Ian Anderson House Staff and Services
IAH is staffed with a team of Home Co-ordinators/Registered Nurses seven days a week and two support staff round the clock. Community Care Access Center (CCAC), formerly Home Care, provides the hours of nursing, support services and equipment that would have been provided in the residents own homes. Volunteers augment resident and family support and perform administrative, household and fundraising tasks. IAH does not have a physician or a Registered Nurse
on staff 24 hours a day. In the absence of the Home Co-ordinators, a
nursing agency designated by CCAC and the Home Co-ordinator will be on call 24
hours a day. The family physician or designate will be responsible for
prescribing the resident's medication. The agency Registered Nurse designated
by CCAC is responsible for administering medications and daily hands-on
care. The Home Co-ordinators are Registered Nurses with
experience in palliative care and pain management. The Home Co-ordinators
report to and are fully accountable to the Board of Directors of IAH.
Volunteers play a valuable and integral role in the operation of IAH. All potential volunteers are screened and interviewed and those accepted then undergo a palliative care training program taillored to the IAH environment and philosophy.
Meals and mealtimes are flexible at IAH and focus on food preferences and the appetite of each resident.
Clergy who are requested to visit by residents are always welcome at IAH. Pastoral counseling for all denominations is also available to all residents and families, if requested. Tel: (905) 337-8004 Fax:
