The management team of Ian Anderson House continues to closely monitor the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. We are following the latest directions and acting on guidance from the Ministry of Health and Public Health Ontario. We are also participating in meetings with Hospice Palliative Care Ontario where issues specific to residential hospices are discussed.
We are taking the necessary precautions to keep residents, staff, visitors and volunteers safe, including the use of appropriate personal protective equipment.
Unfortunately, we have had to put visitor restrictions in place and volunteers are currently not coming in to the hospice. We are encouraging window visits and virtual visits through Facetime or similar applications. Please contact us for the current visitor policy.
We are actively screening everyone entering the hospice, including essential visitors and staff using the most recent screening tool issued by the Ministry of Health. People who do not pass the screen are not permitted to enter.
We recognize that these measures are not ideal and we thank you for your patience and cooperation. Keeping everyone safe is of utmost importance while we maintain our high standard of care for residents and continue to support families the best that we can under the circumstances.
We greatly appreciate your support and understanding during these unprecedented times.
COVID-19 UPDATES:
We have expanded our visitor policy to permit two essential visitors per resident, one per day. Exceptions may be made near the end of life.
